Nokia Lumia 610

On Friday mobile phone giant Nokia launched its cheapest windows based Lumia phone to its Indian users “Lumia 610 “priced at Rs 12999 (~ $ 233.98) aiming at larger share in the country’s Smartphone market. Currently ranked second in India with a market share of 25.5% after Samsung topped at 40.4 % market share from January- March 2012. Nokia has two Lumia the category -- Lumia 710 priced at about Rs 15,000 (~$ 270) and Lumia 800 at Rs 24,000 (~$432).

"The Nokia Lumia 610 will introduce Windows Phone to a new generation of Smartphone users ... It is designed to appeal to a more youthful audience purchasing their first Smartphone," Nokia India Director (Smart Devices) Vipul Mehrotra said.

Nokia Lumia 610 will run on latest window phone OS 7.5 aka Mango and equipped with 800 MHz processor and 8 GB of internal storage ( there is no option to add a micro SD card) and features 3.7-inch display and a 5MP camera. Nokia Director also said that "It showcases our commitment to creating a robust line up of devices on the Windows Phone platform that caters to all “. Beside this Nokia also partnered with Warner Bros much awaited release of 2012 for their upcoming movie The DarkKnight Rises under the limited edition and plan to sell around 200 units of “The Dark Knight Rises".

"A global initiative, the Nokia Lumia Dark Knight Rises campaign is an exciting initiative for Lumia consumers, that will recreate the movie's experience, right on the consumer's devices. The initiative will be supported by a full 360 degree marketing campaign," Nokia India Director said.

Nokia’s primary aim is certainly to compete with its two biggest rivals Apple and Samsung after partnering with Windows giant Microsoft and with the launch of Nokia 808 it is yet to be seen how best Nokia can climb the top spot and compete hard to beat its Android rival Samsung.

My suggestion to my reader and those who is making a plan to buy the new gem from Nokia’s store “ Lumia 610 “wait for some time before taking out your wallet and pulling the trigger as you may well get a better price.

Love to hear from my reader, do leave you comments.
